NJ Wing public affairs officer Lt Mark Swanson will offer a workshop for PAOs and others interested in this specialty track on June 14 at NJWG HQ, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The focus of the daylong workshop will be photography and writing, the nitty-gritty skills most PAOs need to be successful. Lt Swanson will attempt to take some of the mystery out of writing for the media and the Internet in the morning session. The afternoon session will focus not on the f-stops and ISOs of photography but on the essentials of good composition – avoiding “grip and grin” posed photos and group photos and creating action photos that help to tell the story. There will be plenty of hands-on group writing and photography exercises to help each PAO and PAO-wannabe take home some valuable skills.
